Believe it or not, I'm just seeing your comment. Thank you! I do hope to visit China sometime but not sure when. My second book about my father's life during WWII in China will be published by Potomac Books in March 2019. Please look for it on my website. Thank you. Joanie

Dear Joanie,

Your work is very interesting and I am keen to know more about the photograph on this page. You refer to the man on the right as 'unidentified aide to Frantisek Urbana', but if you click on the photo it mentions 'Frank Ulbanek'. I am trying to trace a Czech refugee called Frank Ulbanek who ended up in India and was friends with my grandfather. I thought your photo may be able to help me.

With kindest regards,
Neela

Dear Joanie, I am a local person from Hunan province, China. I have accidentally came across the article you posted on your blog about your mom. I am very happy to find offsprings of Huping College. I have nothing to do with college, yet I am personally interested in the history of foreigners in Hunan province, especially foregin missions like the reformed church, yale-in-China, China-in-mission and so on. I have been to the former site of Huping college and it is well protected now. May I know your email address so i can write more? Thanks. Michael Yu
