In 1939, the world was erupting into violence and the Nazis were invading Czechoslovakia. Families were shattered and life or death decisions had to be made in an instant, an experience shared by author Joanie Schirm after an incredible discovery.

There are no words to properly express the appreciation I have for the many congratulation notices I’ve received since sending out my notice on March 8th that “Adventurers Against Their Will is Available Now!”

Whether it’s unsolicited social media efforts to spread the word, like above; heartwarming messages from around the world from descendants of the Adventurers of my story; long ago friends and bosses who suddenly heard about the book and got in touch with wishes of success – all make me feel that indeed my labor-of-love last five years has all been worth it.

At one point over the weekend on Kindle, in its niche category that Amazon chose for the book, it zoomed to #42. Shocked, I later realized it is not healthy for the mind or heart to track the numbers; they bob up and they dip way down…constantly, like the roller coast of life. It’s better to track the friends who make life what it is – a great ride; worth cherishing all the way!

The voices of the letters from my dad’s historic WWII collection, that I’ve lived with for the past five years, put a human face on history. They remind us of our responsibility in the world to protect human dignity. Each day we must remember that together we can create a world that John Lennon wrote about in his song: Imagine. I thank each one of you for letting me know you care! Peace, Joanie
